A double page spread for Jorn Riel's English translation 'The Raiders'.  The story is about a small Icelandic Viking boy, shipwrecked in ancient Greenland who learns the ways of the Inuits there.   Jorn Riel, born in Denmark in 1931, travelled to and studied the Arctic regions for many years and is now a celebrated expert on this part of the world.  I looked to Inuit soapstone prints for inspiration for this image - lots of activity, yet clean use of white space and a flat perspective.
