Illustrations for a children's book set in Germany at the time of the Holocaust, 'Ziggy's Potato' by Sharon Sorokin and published by Bikabow Books
The design of each page was inspired by Jewish manuscripts with heavily decorated borders. The text is spare but covers a broad timeline so the roundels in the borders act as individual illustrations and help to push the narrative onwards.
The story revolves around Ziggy's survival in the camp and how a potato, found in his soup one Passover, becomes a symbol of hope, travelling with him after liberation to a new life in America.
