A map of the 'Gyptian waterways' in Oxford commissioned as a prop for the BBC/HBO 2019 production of 'His Dark Materials'. The original piece was provided as a black and white version and I coloured the second version up later. Created entirely by hand and based on the city of Oxford in the 1930s, it reflects the world of the Gyptians - the waterboat people who feature in Phillip Pullman's epic trilogy consisting of Northern Lights (1995) (published as The Golden Compass in North America), The Subtle Knife (1997), and The Amber Spyglass (2000).
The first series was aired in Autumn 2019.
